Wednesday
Sunrise Tai Chi
(CLOSED)
Sunrise is one of the best times of the day to enjoy doing Tai Chi and Qigong on the beautiful Cairns Esplanade opposite Pullman Reef Casino. Find us near the Fig Tree Fort in the shade or if it's raining, look further along the waterfront towards the shelter of the wharf area near Hemmingways.
Tuesday and Friday
Tai Chi Classes

Dedicated classes for Senior Citizens happen on Tuesday mornings at the Gatton Street hall. Fridays you can attend the class at Dance2XS Studio in Woree.
Saturday
Tai Chi at the Beach
(CLOSED)
Tranquility surrounds you in paradise when you attend the Kewarra Beach Resort class - on the Nautilus Deck on the absolute beach front. Watch the dolphins play offshore, but keep yourself focused on the next move!
A Bit About Me

Kay Barr has been involved with martial arts since 1982. She gained her Black Belt in Rhee International Taekwondo under 8th Dan World Master, Mr. Chong Chul Rhee and was appointed an Instructor in 1985. A member of the World Taiji Boxing Association under the late Master Erle Montaigue and since with Master Eli Montaigue (Head of the WTBA), Kay has taught Tai Chi classes in Cairns for over 25 years. Kay was affiliated with and a Senior Instructor with the Australian Academy of Tai Chi & Qigong for 10 years under Grandmaster Gary Khor and travelled twice to China with the Academy.
In 2009 Kay graduated from Zendo Health & Lifestyle Centre Cairns with a Diploma of Zen Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies. In pursuit of improved wellness and vitality Kay has gained experience and instruction in several bodywork modalities through the years including Reiki, Chi Nei Tsang, Emmett Therapy and Energetic Medicine.
Kay is also a Clinical Somatic Educator and Exercise Coach (Level 2) after certification with Essential Somatics (USA). She commenced studies in Hanna Somatics in 2013 and went on to complete a 3 year clinical certification course in July 2019. A member of the Association for Hanna Somatic Educators and International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association. Kay is the holder of current Senior First Aid Certificate, CPR, and relevant insurances.
Personal power is being balanced in yourself; having a belief in your own self-sufficiency and aligning your heart, body and soul.
